Job Location: Washington, DC headquarters, requiring 4 days per week in office
Employment Type: Temporary
Seniority Level: Intern
Job Category: Staff
Description
Young Global Professionals (YGPs) are integral to the GeoTech Center. Together, we serve as the essential bridge between technologists and policymakers at both national and international levels, bringing together subject matter experts, thought leaders, and decision-makers to consider the broader societal, economic, and geopolitical implications of new and emerging technologies, leverage technology to solve global challenges, and develop actionable technology policy, partnerships, and programs.
The GeoTech Center focuses on the domestic and global regulatory implications of artificial intelligence, big data, outer space, and other new technologies on the horizon across the energy, bio, and quantum spheres.
Emerging technology trends like agentic AI, data centers, commercial space travel, satellite networks, digital IDs, and quantum computing have the potential to create both opportunities and risks in communities across the globe. Our team tracks and analyzes causes and effects of rapid global technological growth and leads projects aimed at promoting ethical design, equitable access, and responsible governance of emerging tech.
YGPs support outreach and logistics for public and private events; contribute research to reports, papers, and memos; engage with the world’s most influential tech policy leaders; and assist with other tasks as needed. Reflecting many full-time roles in a think tank, the internship is a balance of substantive, operational, administrative, and technical support.
This internship will be based in our Washington, DC headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in the office. Interns will be paid at a rate of $18.00 per hour. Applicants who are available to work in person will be given the strongest consideration.
