WASHINGTON, DC – The Atlantic Council will honor three recipients at its annual Global Citizen Awards, to be presented on the evening of September 19 in New York, NY: Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe; Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi; and American musician, composer, educator, and Managing and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center Wynton Marsalis.
The Atlantic Council will recognize Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe for his lifelong public service, extraordinary regional leadership, and steadfast commitment to strengthening the Japanese economy.
Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi will be awarded for his model leadership in tackling the economic turmoil that has shaken Europe and the world.
We will also honor Grammy and Pulitzer Prize winner Wynton Marsalis for his prolific career in both classical and jazz music, his work as a cultural ambassador, and his lifelong advocacy for the arts and arts education worldwide.
