WASHINGTON, DC –The Atlantic Council will honor President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in; Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau; and world-renowned Chinese pianist, educator, and philanthropist Lang Lang at its eighth annual Global Citizen Awards on the evening of September 19 in New York, NY.
All three distinguished honorees will attend and speak at the event.
The awards dinner honors those individuals who best exemplify “Global Citizenship” through their unique contributions toward improving the state of the world. We salute them before an audience of around 500 global government, business, and civil society leaders.
The Atlantic Council will recognize President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in for his life-long dedication to the advocacy of human rights and democracy through his achievements as a human rights lawyer, and his efforts to defuse tensions with North Korea and contribute to regional stability.
On the 150th Anniversary of Canada, the Atlantic Council will salute Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who will be recognized for his visionary leadership, which he exemplifies through his respect for universal freedom, diversity, and prosperity, and his promotion of open trade and open borders.
Prime Minister Trudeau’s award will be presented by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, a recipient of the 2013 Global Citizen Award, who will deliver introductory remarks.
We will also honor the globally recognized pianist Lang Lang, not only for his astounding artistic career, but also his philanthropic work to build bridges between eastern and western cultures and promote musical education for children.
Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab will present Lang Lang with his award after delivering introductory remarks.
