About the group

In early 2024, the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center announced the launch of the Venezuela Solutions Group, which builds off previous efforts of the Center to deliver action-oriented policy recommendations to promote a solution to the country’s crisis. The group works to inform policymakers in the United States, Europe, and Latin America on how to advance a long-term vision and action-oriented policies to foster democratic stability in Venezuela. The Venezuela Solutions Group is part of the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center’s continued programming that promotes an inclusive, Venezuelan-led democratic resolution to the political crisis.

The group benefits from the strategic leadership of two senior advisors from Latin America—María Ángela Holguín, former foreign minister of Colombia, and Miguel Vargas, former foreign minister of the Dominican Republic.

2024 Venezuela Solutions Group Priorities

The group is focused on advancing the following priorities in 2024:

  1. Shaping a nonpartisan debate on US foreign policy to promote a peaceful and democratic solution in Venezuela;
  2. Promoting a unified and coordinated international response to the crisis in Venezuela across the Americas and in Europe; and
  3. Engaging the private sector as a crucial partner in working to restore democratic institutions and support Venezuela’s economic recovery.
