Transformations in Energy Technology: Innovations for a Secure Energy Future

On February 3, 2016, the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center hosted a panel discussion reflecting on BP’s Technology Outlook and its insights on how we may identify, extract, store, and ultimately consume our energy.

The event featured presentations and a panel with: David Eyton, Head of Technology at BP, and Melanie Kenderdine, Director of the Office of Energy Policy and Systems Analysis at the Department of Energy and Energy Counselor to Secretary Moniz. Annie Medaglia, Deputy Director of the Global Energy Center, moderated a discussion addressing the following questions and more:

• What emerging technologies will be most important as we strive to satisfy greater energy demand with less environmental impact?
• In what areas do government and the private sector need to coordinate in order to bring more energy to more people while reducing greenhouse gas emissions?
• To what extent will future innovative energy technology disrupt current markets, trends, and business models?
