Please join the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, in partnership with Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Anna Maria Corazza Bildt, for a conference on Ukraine and the EU: Charting a Path Forward.

Despite advances, reform in Ukraine is slowing. The country’s national corruption bureau struggles to levy charges on corrupt officials while the Ukrainian government has come under criticism for harrassing anti-corruption officials, defending a controversial asset-disclosure law for investigative journalists, and undercutting potential rivals to President Poroshenko’s party. The European Union (EU) continues to support reform in Ukraine in a variety of ways. For example, in 2016, Ukraine and the EU provisionally implemented the Deep and Comphrensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), and in May 2017, the EU approved visa-free travel for Ukrainian passport holders. Despite these policies, more can be done to help the country’s stability.

To strategize on a stronger response from the EU, the Atlantic Council will host Ukraine and the EU: Charting a Path Forward, in partnership with MEP Corazza Bildt, a member of the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee. The conference will bring together members of the American, European, and Ukrainian policymaking communities to discuss ways that the EU can further support Ukraine as the country works to forge ahead on reform.

We hope you can join us for this timely discussion.
