Data governance for AI and healthcare: From Washington to Beijing

Artificial intelligence and healthcare experts explore how the United States, China, and other major markets are navigating data governance, compute, and infrastructure challenges.

On Tuesday, September 8 at 9:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Cyber Statecraft Initiative will host a public discussion on the future of AI-enabled healthcare and the global environment shaping its development.

AI is transforming drug discovery, clinical trials, precision medicine, and healthcare delivery. But realizing the full potential of AI in healthcare requires access to high-quality data, computing power, energy, and digital infrastructure, as well as the ability to navigate evolving regulatory requirements. How can global healthcare and pharmaceutical companies build and deploy AI at scale while protecting patient trust, privacy, security, and sustainability?

This discussion—part of the Cyber Statecraft Initiative’s Data Rules Project, supported by Pfizer—brings together leaders from the biosciences industry, government, and academia to examine the future of AI in healthcare. The discussion will also consider how the United States, China, and other major technology markets are approaching these challenges, and what their different policy and infrastructure choices mean for pharmaceutical research and development, patient outcomes, and US competitiveness.

New policy: In-person attendees will be required to show photo ID upon arrival, and no on-site registration will be permitted. Guests will not be admitted later than twenty minutes after the event’s start time.

By registering to attend in-person, you agree to abide by the Atlantic Council’s Event Code of Conduct.
