From RIA Novosti: Belarus will allocate a commando unit to the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s (CSTO) Rapid Reaction Force, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces Vladimir Sulimov said on Thursday.

The CSTO is a security grouping comprising the former Soviet republics of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.

"The decision has been taken for Belarus to allocate a commando unit to the CSTO Rapid Reaction Force," Sulimov said without giving details.

In 2009, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko put off signing the treaty establishing the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force amid economic disputes with Moscow.  (photo: AP)
