From Zaman: Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has reiterated that the United States has conveyed no special demand for Turkey to send extra troops to war-torn Afghanistan . . .

Turkey is readying to assume the leadership of the Kabul Regional Command once again in the near future. Davutoğlu explained that Turkey will dispatch more troops to Kabul when it takes over the leadership post, just like every other country contributing to ISAF does. “When we take command, the number of troops will naturally increase to a certain level; there is no demand for any extra contribution. Turkey’s contribution to Afghanistan is within the framework of ISAF. Turkey is currently making the most significant contribution to Afghanistan’s stability, and everybody is aware of this,” Davutoğlu said. (photo: U.S. Department of State)
