NATO leaders attend Allied Reach Exercise 2011

From NATO:  Admiral [Giampaolo] Di Paola, in a joint Press Conference with the Polish Minister of Defence, HE Bogdan Klich, highlighted the main topics of discussions of the ongoing exercise in Poland’s Capital. Referring to Operations, Adaptation (Transformation) and Engagement with Partners, the Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee (CMC) underlined these as the top priorities on the Alliance’s agenda.

In particular, apart from current military operations, the Alliance’s attention is focused on the ongoing process of its transformation into a more adaptable, lean, modern and responsive organization, ready for current and emerging security challenges, with adequate, coherent capabilities.

During his morning address to the attendees of the Allied Reach 2011, CMC also underlined the need for the new Alliance to be more forward – leaning towards future challenges, whilst remembering lessons learned from the past.

Allied Reach 2011 is a high-level exercise planned and organized by the Supreme Allied Command for Operations, based in Mons, Belgium, led by Admiral (US Navy) Jim Stavridis.
