Update: NATO activities in Libya on April 29

From NATO:  Over the past 24 hours, NATO has conducted the following activities associated with Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR:

Air Operations
Since the beginning of the NATO operation (31 March 2011, 08.00GMT) a total of 4398 sorties, including 1821 strike sorties* have been conducted.

Sorties conducted 29 April: 156
Strike sorties conducted 29 April: 55

*Strike sorties are intended to identify and engage appropriate targets, but do not necessarily deploy munitions each time.

Key Targets and Engagements**
29 April: In the vicinity of Tripoli: 1 command & Control Building,1 Self Propelled Artillery Piece. In the vicinity of Zintan: 13 Ammunition Storages, 1 Armoured Personnel Carrier. In the vicinity of Brega: 1 Armoured Fighting Vehicle. In the vicinity of Sirte: 4 Ammunition Storages.

Arms Embargo Activities
A total of 18 ships under NATO command are actively patrolling the Central Mediterranean.
20 Vessels were hailed on 29 April to determine destination and cargo. 1 boarding (no diversion) was conducted.
A total of 726 vessels have been hailed, 22 boardings and 5 diversions have been conducted since the beginning of arms embargo operations.
