A Private Dinner Discussion on Resilience in Cyberspace with DHS Deputy Secretary Jane Holl Lute

Jane Holl Lute

On Thursday, March 29 the Atlantic Council’s Cyber Statecraft Initiative hosted a private dinner discussion on resilience in cyberspace with Deputy Secretary Jane Holl Lute, Deputy Undersecretary for Cybersecurity Mark Weatherford, and key architect of the Blueprint for a Secure Cyber Future, Kim Johnson, all of the Department of Homeland Security.

In the Blueprint, the Department outlines long-term objectives related to resilience, such as ensuring priority response and recovery after a cyber-incident, and increasing system fault tolerance as a way to increase resilience. This requires conducting vulnerability assessments, the promotion of effective resilience standards, and the sponsoring of research into high-assurance systems.

At the dinner discussion, attended by several Atlantic Council Board Directors and leaders from the finance and telecom sectors, attendees discussed the Department’s role in building resilience, and where to focus time and resources in the coming years.
