On Wednesday, June 15, 2016, the Atlantic Council hosted the U.S launch of the BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2016 with Spencer Dale, Group Chief Economist for BP. Global energy markets have entered a period of accelerating volatility. The US shale revolution has upended global oil and gas markets. Alternative energy sources are bourgeoning, and climate policies are reshaping energy systems.
Within this context of uncertainty, the annual BP Statistical Review of World Energy provided an objective global overview of energy production, consumption, trade, reserves and prices. As one of the most widely-respected publications in the field of energy economics, the Statistical Review has been an essential reference document, helping to inform discussion, debate and decision-making for 65 years.
Mr. Dale joined us to present key trends and findings from the 2016 Statistical Review. Following his presentation, The Hon. Richard Morningstar, Founding Director and Chairman of the Global Energy Center, lead a moderated discussion.
