Can Fracking Survive?

On Monday, May 11th, 2015 the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center hosted a panel on the impact of low oil prices on fracking and the shale boom in the United States. The panel also discussed the potential for fracking to spread across the globe and succeed in Europe and countries like Mexico, Argentina, and China. Panelists included Subash Chandra, Managing Director and Senior Equity Analyst at Guggenheim Partners, Dr. Terry Engelder, Professor of Geosciences at Penn State University known as the “Father of Fracking”, and Russell Gold, Senior Energy Reporter at the Wall Street Journal and author of “The Boom: How Fracking Ignited the American Energy Revolution and Changed the World.” Cynthia Quarterman, Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center, moderated the discussion and The Hon. Richard Morningstar, Founding Director of the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center, delivered welcome remarks.
