Communicating with Terror: A Briefing and Discussion with the Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications

On January 24, the Atlantic Council welcomed Ambassador Richard LeBaron and his team from the Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications (CSCC), a center within the Department of State, for a working lunch and discussion.

Following a briefing by Ambassador LeBaron and his staff on the current ways the CSCC is working to counter terrorist communication networks, Barry Pavel, director of the International Security Program at the Atlantic Council, moderated a discussion on the Center’s operational roles and ways to improve upon current progress made by the organization.

Ambassador LeBaron is a career diplomat of over 30 years, having spent time in US embassies in London and Cairo, including his assignment as Ambassador to Kuwait from 2004-2007. In September of 2010, Ambassador LeBaron was appointed Coordinator of the Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications.
