On April 18, the Atlantic Council’s Future of Iran Initiative hosted a panel discussion on the current state and prospects for high tech ventures in Iran. The panel featured Lily Sarafan, Co-founder and CEO, Home Care Assistance; Nadereh Chamlou, Former Senior Advisor, World Bank; and Christopher M. Schroeder, Entrepreneur, Advisor, and Investor. Already one of the more diverse economies in the Middle East, Iran is poised to make major strides as a result of the sanctions relief that accompanied the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the historic agreement reached by Iran with the US and other world powers last year. The panel discussed the impact sanctions had on Iran’s high-tech ventures, the future outlook, and the rules governing foreign investment in this growing sector. The panel was moderated by Future of Iran Acting Director Barbara Slavin.
