On October 13, 2017, the Atlantic Council’s Eurogrowth Initiative hosted a private roundtable discussion with Dr. Elke König, Chair of the Single Resolution Board (SRB).
The SRB was established as the central resolution authority within the Banking Union and is responsible for the resolution of failing European banks. Therefore, the SRB is fundamental to the functioning of, not only the European, but ultimately the global financial sector.
In the context of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Dr. König discussed recent developments in the global financial sector, with a focus on Brexit, the precautionary recapitalization of the Italian Banking sector and US-EU cooperation.
