On July 18, the Atlantic Council’s Cyber Statecraft Initiative and The George Washington University’s Homeland Security Policy Institute for the North American launched Jason Healey’s book, A Fierce Domain: Conflict in Cyberspace, 1986-2012.
A Fierce Domain explores the twenty-six-year history of cyber conflict and analyzes case studies of the most significant cyber incidents. In a recent review, The Economist praises the book’s “gripping accounts” of cyberattacks, which unfortunately remain outside of general public knowledge. The book identifies key lessons for policymakers and where these lessons differ from popular myths common in military and political circles.
Frank Cilluffo, director of The George Washington University’s Homeland Security Policy Institute, moderated a discussion with Jason Healey, director of the Cyber Statecraft Initiative at the Atlantic Council, to explore the findings in this first book on the history of cyber conflict.
