The Atlantic Council of the United States in coordination with the Regional Centre for Energy Policy Research hosted “The Next 40 Years: Advancing EU Energy Objectives in East Central Europe” conference on October 4-5 in Budapest, Hungary.

The workshop brought together US and European business leaders and public policymakers in a dialogue designed to increase the understanding of the issues related to the development of a coherent policy on energy security in East Central Europe from the perspective of the United States, the European Union and the regional governments. The program was designed to develop consensus recommendations from a cross section of government, industry and non-governmental policy experts to examine current efforts to transform the supply and consumption of energy to create a sustainable energy future for East Central Europe that addresses an integrated goal of energy security, environmental responsibility and economic prosperity.
