On December 3, 2012, the Atlantic Council and NATO’s Allied Command Transformation organized a strategic foresight workshop on “The World of 2030: Security and Military Implications for NATO.”

This workshop was part of ACT’s strategic foresight effort, which seeks to provide the Alliance with a fuller understanding of the future operating environment, its key components and drivers, and how it will affect the Alliance and its ability to carry out its core missions and tasks. Ultimately, this project seeks to inform NATO’s long-term capabilities development in the context of a rapidly changing world. This workshop built on the conclusions and findings from preceding workshops under the umbrella of ACT’s strategic foresight effort that took place earlier this fall in Brussels and Budapest.

Workshop participants included representatives from ACT and NATO HQ, senior officials, country representatives, and a select group of American and European NATO and strategic foresight experts.
