The Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security hosted a Transition Seminar for Robert Scher, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities, on Tuesday, January 20. The seminar saw a varied panel of experts gather to offer advice and to hear from Mr. Scher as he transitions into his new role.

After outlining his vision and priorities for the next two years, Mr. Scher fielded questions and noted advice from the congregated experts. With his command and priorities ranging from nuclear defense to cyber integrity and strategic partnerships, the discussion covered a lot of ground and offered a wealth of points to consider.

The purpose of our transition seminars is to offer incoming officials the opportunity to share ideas and to hear from prominent figures in their field. As well as opening a dialogue, this series aims to promote productive and efficient transitions for newly elected office bearers. For this event, participants included military, government, industry, and Atlantic Council representatives.
