Hearing to Review US Assistance for Central America

Ambassador John Negroponte, Co-Chair of the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center’s Northern Triangle Security and Economic Opportunity Task Force, testified in front of the Senate Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related programs during their hearing on “United States Assistance to Central America” on May 23, 2017. In his remarks, Ambassador Negroponte highlighted the Center’s leadership in creating a blueprint for a brighter future in the region, and noted the report and the poll that were part of this endeavor. Per the recommendations outlined in the task force report, Building a Better Future: A Blueprint for Central America’s Northern Triangle (launched on May 4), he expressed the need for US assistance to the region that is not only holistic, but sustained.
