As the new US administration settles into office, some of its statements during and since the election campaign have created uncertainty about the future of the long-standing US partnership with Europe. In turn, some European rhetoric has raised questions about whether the European Union can work effectively with the new administration. As the top EU foreign policy official, Mogherini will be visiting Washington for consultations on the US-EU partnership and a range of foreign policy issues. In this public address, she will discuss how the EU might best build a strong relationship with the new administration so that the transatlantic partners can best meet today’s foreign policy challenges they face.
