On Tuesday, August 26 at 10:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Strategic Litigation Project, and the Cyber Statecraft Initiative, will host a virtual panel discussion on liability for spyware abuses.
Over the last few years, there have been numerous calls for accountability regarding spyware abuses. However, efforts to establish norms at the international level and to enact binding regulations will take years. This leaves a major gap when it comes to past and ongoing abuses. This panel will highlight some unexplored existing avenues to pursue immediate accountability for these harms.
This event will be hosted in anticipation of two forthcoming reports from the Strategic Litigation Project and the Cyber Statecraft Initiative, which explore how strict liability for ultrahazardous activities and product liability can be used to address and prevent spyware harms, respectively.
This event will be streamed live on Atlantic Council TV, YouTube, Facebook, and X. To register, please complete the form on this page.
