Moderated by:

The security requirements of megacities in the twenty-first century will require a comprehensive approach. Rapid urbanization and the expansion of information technologies have made conventional homeland security practices obsolete. To confront these new challenges, the United States and India must continue to develop cooperation in a variety of spheres through which law enforcement agencies share best practices. The US-India Homeland Security Dialogue initiated the discussion about these new challenges but the conversation and coordination must continue. As a prelude to the Megacity Security Conference to be held this November in Mumbai, India, hosted by the Atlantic Council along with the India Foundation and the US Consulate General Mumbai, Ambassador Arun Singh will discuss the challenges confronting both the United States and India as they attempt to safeguard their largest cities.
