The Atlantic Council Global Energy Center is honored to invite you to a special evening celebrating the 80th birthday of Ambassador Richard Morningstar and the 10th anniversary of the Global Energy Center, on Monday, June 16, from 6:00 to 9:30 PM, at the Atlantic Council Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Over the course of his remarkable career—as US Ambassador to the European Union, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy, and now Founding Chairman of the Global Energy Center—Ambassador Morningstar has shaped the transatlantic energy relationship and helped lay the groundwork for today’s global energy dialogue. His vision, diplomacy, and leadership have left an indelible mark on US foreign policy, energy security, and international cooperation, particularly through his work on launching the Global Energy Center a decade ago.

As we gather on the 10th anniversary of the Global Energy Center, on the eve of the 2025 Global Energy Forum, we invite you to celebrate not only a milestone birthday but a celebration of GEC’s impact on global energy security over the last decade. The evening will feature food, drinks, live music, and tributes from friends and colleagues to honor Ambassador Morningstar.
