Belarus is increasingly taking on importance for Western policymakers and defense planners due to its geostrategic location between NATO and Russia. With an easing of EU sanctions, Belarus’s economic relations with Europe are growing, but the country remains dependent on Russia across many sectors. As Western relations with Moscow continue to deteriorate and become more hostile, there is growing understanding in the West of the need to prevent the Belarusian state from falling entirely under Russian political and military domination. 

The Atlantic Council and the Jamestown Foundation will bring together a group of experts to evaluate the gradual rapprochement between Belarus and the West, examine its prospects, and analyze the impact for Belarusian statehood stemming from current tensions between Moscow and Minsk.
