Please join the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security for an off-the-record briefing and roundtable discussion on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. covering the research advances in and the applications of directed energy technology for deterrence and defense with our guests, Dr. Daniel Ripin, leader of the Laser Technology and Applications Group at MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory, and Dr. Melissa Choi, assistant division Head of the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) & Tactical Systems Division. The discussion, moderated by Barry Pavel, vice president and director of the Scowcroft Center.
We are convening a select group of experts from government, academia, and business to discuss advanced research on directed energy technology and its applications for deterrence and defense. Conversation will also focus on the Lincoln Laboratory’s work with DARPA regarding drones with electric lasers and laser and non-laser directed energy.
