As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.
The Atlantic Council’s Asia Security Initiative invites you to join us via Zoom on August 19 from 8:00 am to 9:00 am (EDT) for a discussion of how emerging defense technologies are reshaping strategic dynamics in the Indo-Pacific in an era of US-China great power competition and implications for US-Japan cooperation, featuring keynote remarks by General James E. Cartwright, USMC (Ret.), former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Atlantic Council Board Director, followed by a public panel discussion with Dr. Ryo Hinata-Yamaguchi, Visiting Professor at Pusan National University and Adjunct Fellow at the Pacific Forum, Dr. Sarah Kirchberger, Head of the Center for Asia-Pacific Strategy and Security, Institute for Security Policy, University of Kiel, and Mr. Tate Nurkin, Founder of OTH Intelligence Group and Nonresident Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council. The discussion will include analysis from a recent Asia Security Initiative report, “Emerging Technologies and the Future of US-Japan Defense Collaboration”.
