H.E. Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commission Vice President for the Euro and Social Dialogue, will address current migration and security challenges and their economic implications. Specifically regarding the economic implications, he will discuss the steps the European Commission is taking to strengthen the resilience of the European economy against global market turbulence. 

In his capacity as Vice President for the Euro and Social Dialogue, he directs the work on the European Semester, enhancing the convergence of economic, fiscal, and labor market policies between EU countries. The discussion will evolve around the questions: What measures have been taken to support smart and sustainable growth in Europe?  Does the Euro have the capacity help Europe back to economic growth?

This important and timely discussion on the state of the European economy takes place against the background of the International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings, focused on the global economy, international development, and the world's financial markets.
