Please join the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security’s Forward Defense program for a public event marking the release of our report on distributed maritime operations. This event is generously supported by Thales, MBDA, and Fincantieri, and will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at the Atlantic Council’s headquarters and via livestream. This event will feature keynote remarks by Christopher Cavas, framing remarks by Dmitry Filipoff, associate research analyst at the Center for Naval Analyses and the report’s author, and a moderated discussion about the future of the US Navy’s maritime operations, moderated by Steven Grundman, with Dmitry Filipoff, Tony Lengerich, and Barbara Anderson.

Distributed maritime operations (DMO) is the warfighting concept at the heart of the US Navy’s planning for current and future operations. How well is the Navy poised for executing this concept? Our report delves into the specific ideas guiding the concept, particularly how to achieve decision advantage and what successful implementation looks like, not only for the Navy but the entire Joint Force. As the United States looks ahead to increased maritime competition in the Indo-Pacific and elsewhere, it is crucial for the Navy to implement the right plans and capabilities to perform its mandated Title X operations.
