The UNFCCC’s Conference of the Parties (COP), is a critical global milestone where governments and stakeholders unite to negotiate and drive the energy transition through initiatives, investments, and decarbonization strategies essential to meeting climate goals. Leveraging this international meeting, the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center, from November 12 to 17, hosted and participated in a series of public panel discussions in both the Blue and Green Zones in Baku.
Our engagements focused on key areas such as methane abatement strategies, carbon accounting, and the development of clean energy infrastructure—critical components for accelerating the global shift to a low-carbon future. Throughout the discussions, attendees had the chance to hear from leading voices in energy policy, industry, and civil society as we work together to drive meaningful action.
At COP29, we built on the momentum of our impactful COP28 programming by curating discussions that highlighted effective emissions-reduction actions, fostered cross-sector partnerships, and explored solutions that support both decarbonization and energy security.
