On September 4 and 5, the eyes of the world will be on Wales, where nearly forty heads of state and government from NATO and its global partners will convene to address the most pressing issues facing the transatlantic alliance today, from completing NATO’s mission in Afghanistan to the crisis in Ukraine to crafting international responses to the turmoil in the Middle East. The outcome of this Summit is set to alter the trajectory of NATO’s future, but will the decisions and policies Alliance leaders implement be sufficient enough to overcome defense spending cuts, political divisions, and external threats?

To discuss these important questions please join the Atlantic Council for a members conference call live from the 2014 NATO Summit in Wales on Friday, September 5 at 12:30 p.m. ET with Professor R. Nicholas Burns, Atlantic Council board director and former US ambassador to NATO, and Damon Wilson, executive vice president of the Atlantic Council. Mr. Wilson will give a readout from the NATO Summit, delving beyond the newspaper headlines and outlining key summit deliverables and their long-term strategic impact on NATO. Professor Burns will provide further insight and analysis of the NATO Summit and elaborate on his recent article in the Financial Times: Three critical tests for NATO leaders in Wales. The call will be moderated by Atlantic Council President and CEO Fred Kempe.

This call will be on-the-record.
