Mexico's Political Reform and Electoral Transformation:
What are the Global Lessons?

With the recent reform to reshape Mexico's political system that took effect on February 11, 2014, the role of the Federal Electoral Tribunal—an internationally recognized institution that oversees the legality of Mexican elections—will be increasingly significant. What can the international community learn from Mexico's electoral experience?

Join the Atlantic Council's Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center and the Woodrow Wilson International Center's Mexico Institute for a roundtable discussion with the head of the Federal Electoral Tribunal, José Alejandro Luna Ramos. Judge Ramos and others will discuss the implications of the new political reform and will highlight Mexico's lessons learned that are being shared across the world. Special topics will range from the implementation of international transparency measures to gender and indigenous justice in the electoral system.
