The Atlantic Council is pleased to host a private workshop on US nuclear energy and prospects for advancing US export of advanced reactors on Monday, October 7, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Atlantic Council (1030 15th Street NW, Washington, DC 20005).
The United States has historically been a global leader in the export of civil nuclear energy technologies. However, Russia is currently the global leader through the state-owned Rosatom, and China’s global market share is expected to increase. China and Russia both utilize state-owned enterprises that often rely on “Build Own Operate” models paired with attractive financing packages for nuclear tenders.
This roundtable will discuss how to bolster the competitiveness of US companies. In particular, it will discuss any regulatory, legal, and policy challenges around US companies that are seeking to deploy their reactors abroad and are exploring business models like Build Own Operate.
The roundtable will take place following the Chatham House Rule.
