Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will preview the Pentagon's FY2015 budget this Monday, February 24, 2014. In his presentation he is expected to outline the rationale for the budget proposal even as some decisions are already known. For example, the official defense budget is expected to total an estimated $498 billion, in which the Pentagon will spend more on cyber, and find ways to work with fewer resources.

To discuss the implications of the Pentagon’s budget the Atlantic Council's Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security will host a members’ conference call with Barry Pavel, vice president and director of the Brent Scowcroft Center; James Hasik, nonresident senior fellow for defense in the Brent Scowcroft Center; and James Joyner, nonresident senior fellow in the Brent Scowcroft Center.

Pavel and Joyner will discuss themes they touched upon in their Defense News article where they called for “no more baby steps” in the Pentagon’s Quadrennial Defense Review. Hasik, who researches and writes about global security challenges and the defense industry in "The Defense-Industrialist," will also provide his expert analysis.
