On January 8, 2020, Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752–scheduled to travel from Tehran to Kyiv–was shot down just six minutes after takeoff. Following three days of Iranian state denials and growing international scrutiny, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) finally admitted to downing Flight PS752 with its missiles, taking with it the lives of all 176 passengers and crew on board, and an unborn child. Iranian authorities bulldozed the crash site swiftly, without a full or transparent investigation into the circumstances of the attack. Despite years of demanding the truth, many details of the incident remain unknown, and the victims’ loved ones still await justice.
The Atlantic Council’s Strategic Litigation Project invites you to a discussion on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM EST about the lasting impact of the downing of Flight PS752 and legal options for accountability. The conversation will feature several representatives of the Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims and legal experts to discuss the path toward redress for the victims and their families. This marks the first time family members of the victims will be gathered in-person in Washington, D.C. to make their demands heard.
This discussion will be held both in-person and via Zoom. The event is open to press and on-the-record.
