As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.

EBRD moved swiftly in response to the economic devastation caused by Covid-19, committing a €21 billion Solidarity Package to support its countries  over the course of 2020/21. EBRD’s focus is on supporting the private sector – key for countries’ recovery, while also providing targeted policy support to governments facing difficult policy decisions and trade-offs. Decisions taken today will impact the shape of the post-Covid world so EBRD is also working closely with partners across the world, as a member of the Group of MDB Heads, Team Europe, and through the reactivation of the Vienna Initiative. Sir Suma will discuss Covid-19’s economic impact across central and eastern Europe, central Asia, and the southern and eastern Mediterranean, outline how the EBRD is supporting these regions, and look ahead to what is needed from the multilateral system to deliver for an increasingly interconnected world.

Please join EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti and Ryan Heath, Senior Editor at POLITICO, as they explore these issues. Josh Lipsky, Director of Programs and Policy of the Atlantic Council’s Global Business & Economics Program, will offer opening remarks.
