Dan Peleschuk is the editor of New Atlanticist. Based in Europe, he helps shape the Atlantic Council’s flagship section by working with both in-house and external experts and thinkers to deliver impactful analysis and commentary. Prior to joining the Council, Dan was managing editor at the Washington-based Institute of Current World Affairs (ICWA), where he edited dispatches by global fellows and revamped the organization’s digital offerings by launching a podcast, a section devoted to commentary and news analysis, as well as a content partnership with Slate.
During his 15 years in journalism, Dan has reported on politics, society, and culture, primarily throughout the former Soviet Union. While based in Moscow, he covered the outbreak of mass anti-government protests, President Vladimir Putin’s return to the Kremlin and his ensuing crackdown on civil society, as well as the emergence of a new brand of Russian nationalism. From Ukraine, he covered the Revolution of Dignity, the eruption of war between government troops and Moscow-backed separatists, as well as the country’s nation-building efforts following those events.
Dan holds a graduate degree in European, Russian, and Eurasian studies from the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. He completed his undergraduate studies at Northeastern University in Boston, where he cut his teeth in journalism on the City Desk at The Boston Globe.
