United States and CanadaDean Jackson is a nonresident fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab and the principal of Public Circle, LLC, a research consultancy specializing in democracy, technology, and media. He is also a nonresident fellow at American University’s Center for Security, Innovation, and New Technology, and he has previously held fellowships with Tech Policy Press and the Propaganda Research Lab at the University of Texas at Austin.
In 2022, Jackson was an investigative analyst with the US House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, for which he helped lead inquiries into the role of social media platforms in the insurrection. He has previously held positions at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the National Endowment for Democracy, where he worked on disinformation and other technology-related challenges to democracy around the world. Jackson holds an MA in international security from the University of Chicago and a BA in political science from Wright State University in his native Dayton, Ohio.
