Emil Skandul is a 2026–27 Millennium fellow and a hedge fund technologist and public policy columnist who leads technology and AI design at Coatue, a technology-oriented investment firm, where he partners with leadership and engineering teams to build applied financial and research platforms. Prior to Coatue, he worked at the quantitative hedge fund Two Sigma and spent more than a decade running a technology consultancy, designing and delivering software for Fortune 500 companies and high-growth startups. Skandul began his career in New York City government in economic development and later helped found the city’s first technology-advocacy nonprofit, Coalition for Queens (now Pursuit), focused on workforce development and economic mobility. For more than thirteen years, he has written on economics, innovation, and technology policy for publications including Business Insider, Crain’s New York Business, and the New York Daily News. His work explores how technological change reshapes cities, labor markets, and institutions. Skandul is currently an Economic Club of New York fellow and a former Tony Blair Institute Tech Policy fellow.
