Jeff Le serves as U.S. State and Local Public Policy Lead for VMware, a digital technology and infrastructure company, and manages the company’s gubernatorial and legislative chamber relationships across all 50 states and Canada. Jeff focuses on emerging technology policy issues, including privacy, 5G and broadband, cybersecurity, sustainability, IT modernization, social justice, and diversity and inclusion matters. Jeff’s writing has been featured in The Hill, Orlando Sentinel, Minnesota Post, Bucks County Courier Times, The Villages News, The Boulder Daily Camera, and the Albany Herald.

Jeff previously served as Deputy Cabinet Secretary for California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. where he oversaw the Governor’s cabinet on a range of issues, including: economic development, emerging technology, artificial intelligence, blockchain, future of work, privacy and cybersecurity, immigration, homeland security and natural disaster response, food and agriculture, arts and culture, military and veterans’ affairs, tribal relations, government operations, and led state negotiations for disaster relief from three historic fires and a megadrought. He also conducted the Governor’s intelligence briefings.

Jeff was also Governor Brown’s Assistant Cabinet Secretary and Deputy Director for External and International Affairs where he interfaced with domestic stakeholders and convened foreign dignitaries on behalf of the state. Before his state service, he was Senior Manager for Development and Communications at Global Rights, an international human rights organization. From 2010-2011, he worked with communities across seventeen Afghan provinces as a manager at International Relief and Development. He has worked at the State Department, U.S. House of Representatives, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, United Nations, Carter Center, the National Democratic Institute, and has been an international election observer in ten countries.

Jeff received his BAs in Political Science and History from the University of California, San Diego and his MA in Political Science as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. He is a Millennium Leadership Fellow with the Atlantic Council, Term Member on the Council on Foreign Relations and has been selected for bilateral leadership programs to Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy.

Jeff has completed four 100-mile running races, qualified for the Boston Marathon, has been to every Major League Baseball ballpark, all 50 states, and 85 countries.
