John P. Soughan was a program assistant at the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center where he primarily focuses on the annual Global Energy Forum in Abu Dhabi. His interests include the cybersecurity in the energy sector, the role of oil and gas in the energy transition, China’s energy and industrialization policies, and the energy transition in the Middle East and North Africa region. Prior to joining the Atlantic Council, John worked with the US Department of Commerce in Beijing, focusing on US-China energy trade policy and market conditions. He also worked with Resilience Insurance, a cybersecurity and insurance start-up, where he focused on market rollout strategy and public policy. John has a bachelor’s degree from the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs with concentrations in international economics and Spanish, as well as a minor in Chinese language and literature.
