Citing forced labor concerns, the Trump administration has proposed new tariffs on imports from sixty economies—a first step toward rebuilding its tariff wall. Still, the outcome is far from certain.

Madeline Chalecki is an assistant director at the Atlantic Council’s GeoEconomics Center, where she leads the center’s work on trade policy, tariffs, and supply chains, including the Trump Tariff Tracker.

Prior to joining the Atlantic Council, Chalecki worked at Trade Partnership Worldwide, where she conducted quantitative analysis on international trade, tariffs, and supply chains for businesses, industry associations, and policymakers. 

Chalecki holds a bachelor’s degree from American University’s School of Public Affairs, where she graduated magna cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
