María Celeste Maradiaga is a Honduran investigative journalist and nonresident journalist fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub. She conducts investigations at Contracorriente, an independent and in-depth media outlet in Honduras. Her work focuses on extractivism, the environment, gender issues, and corruption. She has also conducted investigative work on the impacts of trade between Honduras and China.
Maradiaga has led numerous workshops and lectures on journalism. The topics of these workshops include climate-related displacement from a Central American perspective, fiscal inequality in Latin America, how to develop new narratives and formats for journalism, and issues related to human rights and freedom of expression. Maradiaga is a graduate of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras.
