Raul Alonso is a participant in the 2024 Executive Leadership Intensive and a vice president at Goldman Sachs, where he manages sovereign and economic risk in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa based out of London. As part of his role, he monitors economic, political, and geopolitical developments in the region to determine the firm’s risk appetite across countries. Alonso also designs baseline and ad-hoc scenarios covering a range of global macro topics. Previously, Alonso was part of the sovereign and economic risk team in New York with a focus on Latin American country risk and sovereign advisory. He is also an adjunct professor at Sciences Po in Paris and, prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Alonso worked as an economic analyst in the Middle East, living in Dubai and Bahrain. He holds an MPA in economic policy from Columbia University, an MSc in International Management from ESADE Business School, and is also a chartered financial analyst.
