SpanishSalomé Ramírez Vargas is an assistant director at the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center, where she leads the center’s communications strategy.
She previously worked as an international multimedia journalist with the Latin America Division at Voice of America, reporting on immigration, elections, and regional politics. Her professional background also includes experience in strategic communications and multimedia production across the nonprofit, corporate, and news sectors, with more than three thousand stories published by outlets including the Miami Herald, El Nuevo Herald, El Nuevo Día, and Metro Puerto Rico.
Originally from Pereira, Colombia, Ramirez Vargas spent nearly nine years in Puerto Rico, where she earned a degree in journalism with a minor in psychology from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and passionate about storytelling that bridges cultures and informs global audiences.
