US News and World Report quotes VP and Director of the Transatlantic Relations Program Frances Burwell on Secretary Kerry’s critical role in the Iran nuclear negotiations:

Frances Burwell, director of the Transatlantic Relations Program at the Atlantic Council, says Kerry was key in the delivery of the framework deal reached last week.

“I don’t think there could have been an agreement without Kerry getting so engaged,” Burwell says.

Iran isn’t as high-profile an issue in Europe as it is in the U.S., so European populations are largely agnostic regarding the deal, Burwell says. Many Europeans instead are busy worrying about Russia and Ukraine, as well as the Islamic State group and foreign fighters carrying out attacks in their home countries.
