With the JLTVs entering Army and Marine units where historically Humvees were used, though, many armored Humvees at least will be replaced, said James Hasik, a senior fellow for defense at the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security. Hasik has worked as a consultant on projects including armored vehicles, among other military areas like artillery and naval weaponry.
Hasik agreed the Humvee is not entirely being replaced, “but to a certain extent the JLTV is meant to replace armored Humvees,” he said.

Though AM General boasts many accomplishments in the wake of losing the JLTV deal, Hasik said, the company does have a challenging problem to face — keeping its military side relevant in the niche market of light tactical vehicles.
