Senior Fellow Fred Hof writes an op-ed for US News and World Report arguing that we will never know if it is too late to stop the violence in Syria if we do not try:
If current trends prevail Iran, the Assad regime, Russia, Al-Qaida and Syria’s criminal class will soon emerge as winners in the crisis that has destroyed modern Syria and unleashed the signature humanitarian disaster of the 21st century. The losers will be 23 million Syrians, Syria’s neighbors and perhaps Western Europeans and North Americans who may be obliged simultaneously to absorb large numbers of destitute Syrian refugees while dealing with the security implications of terrorists having a new base from which to operate internationally. Unless this is acceptable to the West the time for action is now.
